Colloidal plasmonic back reflectors for light trapping in solar cells.
A novel type of plasmonic light trapping structure is presented in this paper, composed of metal nanoparticles synthesized in colloidal solution and self-assembled in uniform long-range arrays using a wet-coating method. The high monodispersion in size and spherical shape of the gold colloids used in this work allows a precise match between their measured optical properties and electromagnetic ...
متن کاملStiffening Method for “spring-back” Reflectors
The recently proposed concept of spring back reflectors has revolutionised the field of deployable antenna structures. The whole structure is made as a single piece from composite material, without any expensive and potentially unreliable joints, and it is simply folded elastically about a central axis, like a taco shell. Shape distortions occur during manufacturing and are difficult to correct...
متن کاملSilicon Substrates With Buried Distributed Bragg Reflectors for Resonant Cavity-Enhanced Optoelectronics
We report on a commercially reproducible silicon wafer with a high-reflectance buried distributed Bragg reflector (DBR). The substrate consists of a two-period DBR fabricated using a double silicon-on-insulator (SOI) process. The buried DBR provides a 90% reflecting surface. We have fabricated resonant cavity-enhanced Si photodetectors with 40% quantum efficiency at 860 nm and a full-width at h...
متن کاملInfrared diffractive filtering for extreme ultraviolet multilayer Bragg reflectors.
We report on the development of a hybrid mirror realized by integrating an EUV-reflecting multilayer coating with a lamellar grating substrate. This hybrid mirror acts as an efficient Bragg reflector for extreme ultraviolet (EUV) radiation at a given wavelength while simultaneously providing spectral-selective suppression of the specular reflectance for unwanted longer-wavelength radiation due ...
متن کاملNear‐Infrared Colloidal Quantum Dots for Efficient and Durable Photoelectrochemical Solar‐Driven Hydrogen Production
A new hybrid photoelectrochemical photoanode is developed to generate H2 from water. The anode is composed of a TiO2 mesoporous frame functionalized by colloidal core@shell quantum dots (QDs) followed by CdS and ZnS capping layers. Saturated photocurrent density as high as 11.2 mA cm-2 in a solar-cell-driven photoelectrochemical system using near-infrared QDs is obtained.
